Lending a hand
Hi Everyone,
Thought I’d share a little bit of what Golgotha Ministry has been doing lately. So many Jesus moments amongst the 800 plates of smoked pork butt with sides at Parchman to the Great Peanut Butter & Jelly Experiment at several prisons across the state. In addition, Bryan, along with Millie Eisenhauer shared music and song with the residents at some prisons in Florida, Louisiana, and Tennessee. They have also shared about Golgotha Ministry with some church congregations.
The residents at the prisons enjoy not only the music (Blues, Motown, and Gospel), and a word. In fact, standing ovations are pretty regular. They are also happy about the sandwiches and cold glasses of milk - hundreds, sometimes thousands of sandwiches and MANY gallons of milk. I cannot count the number of times we hear comments like, “I can’t remember the last time I had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich,” or “This reminds me of my mom when she made me peanut butter & jelly sandwiches.” To be able to bring only a moment of a memory of a sweeter time in their lives...it's all Jesus.
Thank you to each person who helped make this happen and who participated, either in person, donated funds, or both. The looks of satisfaction on the residents’ faces while seriously savoring their PB&J’s or seeing the music and words wash over the hearts of the residents would not have been possible without you.
For me, I’m always touched by seeing the residents raising their hands worshipping God. To be living in such a dark space and still see the light of Jesus shine, well, that’s Jesus right there.
One thing in particular - I kept looking at the ID badge of one of the resident volunteers. The backside of it was unique. I asked him about it, and he told us that’s what led him to Jesus – the singed snippets of Scripture. He kept seeing them on the floor of the prison and would collect them. He explained that some residents use whatever they can find to craft cigarette sleeves. It was those very scriptures that he picked up that helped him to come to know Jesus as his King and Savior. He assembled some of them on the back of his ID badge. This is a “what satan meant for evil, God used for good” event - Isaiah 55:8-9; Genesis 15:20; Proverbs 16:9.
God is opening doors for Golgotha Ministry to reach some of the most forgotten and unreachable. I’m thankful and blessed to be a part of it.
Blessings,
Kathy
